WorkSafe Saskatchewan, for a limited time (no end date currently) is providing residence of Saskatchewan with FREE online health and safety education certification. This is a great opportunity to include in your resume when applying for a job. Courses include Bullying in the Workplace, Hazard Identification, Mental Health, Violence in the Workplace, and WHMIS. Course descriptions are available. Once you go through the registration, and declare yourself as a Saskatchewan resident, your total cost will be zero dollars. You can then begin taking the courses you have selected.
Online Courses
WorkSafe offers many training courses online. This means you can work on them at your own pace and when it’s convenient for you. This also makes it easier to have more of your staff trained in WHMIS, Inspections and Investigations.
NOTE: Successfully completing both the Inspections and Investigations online courses provides the equivalent of the Occupational Health and Safety Level 2 Committee training.
Overview
Cando Rail Services is committed to the many communities in which it operates across Canada and in the United States. Through the Cando Spirit High School Scholarship Program, the company awards one scholarship of $500 to the local high school in the community. Scholarships will be given out annually.
Cando’s Customers
Cando managers will work with our customers in the communities we operate to select the high school in the area. Customers will also be invited to attend the award ceremony with the Cando representative if they chose to.
The Recipients
The scholarship recipient will receive a certificate at the award ceremony and will then be responsible for proving his or her attendance at the post secondary institution of his or her choice in the fall.
Selection Criteria
Cando’s employees pride themselves on being able to make things happen. Throughout the years, the company has worked to build a company culture that it can be proud of. The Cando Spirit was established to help communicate the company culture to employees and can be found on display in each of Cando’s facilities.
The Cando scholarship is to be awarded to the student that best displays the six characteristics as laid out in the Cando Spirit High School Scholarship (leadership, determination and work ethic; taking risks; business with integrity; empowering leaders; employee ownership; and entrepreneurship). We ask the school administration to please adapt the characteristics to apply to a high school setting.

Sacred Heart School Community Council is awarding a deserving grade 12 student graduating from Vanier Collegiate with a cash scholarship. The student must have graduated from Sacred Heart School. The award is based on the student’s community and/or school contributions. The chosen student will be awarded $100.
Application is due by Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

History
Evan Thomas went to Vanier Collegiate for 2 years while playing hockey in Moose Jaw. He touched the lives of many people during his short time in Moose Jaw.
This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Evan.

- Must be pursuing a post-secondary program
- Must be graduating in the current year
- Must have played hockey or baseball of any kind during his/her time at Vanier

Golf Saskatchewan annually awards a number of scholarships to deserving student candidates who have made major accomplishments in academics, including golf, in Saskatchewan. The scholarships are named for individuals who have made significant contributions to amateur golf in the province.
Golf Saskatchewan also works with Golf Canada to assist young golfers who wish to apply for national scholarships and bursaries through the Golf Canada Foundation.

Past SAGE Recipients
Golf Saskatchewan annually presents up to post-secondary Saskatchewan Academic and Golf Excellence (SAGE) scholarships, and two high school bursaries, to deserving golfers.
The scholarships are:
- Graham DeLaet Scholarship value of $1,500 (two scholarships)
- Golf Saskatchewan Scholarship value of $1,000
- Ron Young Memorial Scholarship value of $1,000
- Fred Fletcher – Ben/Bob Reid Scholarship value of $1,000
- Jack Leddy – Jack Heywood Scholarship value of $1,000
- Hubert S. Cooke – William S. Kinnear Scholarship value of $1,000

In the event deserving candidates are not available, the selection committee may forgo awarding one or more of the scholarships. The scholarships are intended to assist members of Golf Saskatchewan affiliated golf clubs in their pursuit of high school and post-secondary education.
Selection Criteria
A scholarship will be awarded by the Golf SK Scholarship Committee to those applicants judged most deserving based on:
- Being a member of Golf Saskatchewan/Golf Canada,
- Most of the application weighting based on the applicants current year academic record (minimum grade point average)
- A small weighting is based on:
- the applicant competing at the previous years’ provincial championship,
- the Golf Saskatchewan Order of Merit Tour standings,
- future plans in academics and/or golf, and
- a paragraph/letter outlining why the applicant should be considered.
Note: extenuating circumstances may result in the committee choosing an applicant who may not meet all the criteria.
Application Deadline
- Applications must be completed in full and received May 5th at 12:00 PM.
- Late or incomplete applications may be rejected.
- Scholarship recipients will be announced on May 31st, of the application year.
* Notes:
- should an individual not attend a University/College in the application year, she/he will forfeit the scholarship.
- A forfeited scholarship will not be awarded to another applicant in the same fiscal year.
- All cheques must be written to the university/college registrars office.
Moose Jaw Arts in Motion is pleased to announce that the Larry Wilson Scholarship Program will again be available to students who wish to study in the following artistic disciplines:
- Drama
- Dance (Traditional and Contemporary)
- Musical Theatre (live voice and dance)
- Instrumental
- Vocal
- Literature (including writing, journalism, screen writing)
The scholarships are funded from monies set aside by Larry Wilson to acknowledge the contributions that his family made to the arts. They are executed by the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation.

Value: $1,000
Application Deadline: May 1st each year – hand into the career counsellor
- This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of Vanier Collegiate who has completed all the courses necessary to receive their high school Diploma – Mention Bilingue.
- The recipient will have attended Vanier Collegiate for a minimum of two years, have an average of 75% or better in grade twelve according to the criteria established by the school for this calculation. The financial needs of the family are an important consideration.
- In order to receive these funds the student will submit proof by May 1st of their enrollment at a University in Canada or in France and taking a minimum of two classes in French in their first year of study.
- Application forms for this scholarship are available from the Counsellor’s office or the Office of the Principal. These must be submitted to the Counsellor or the Principal no later than May 1st.
- If in any year the terms and conditions of this scholarship are not met, the scholarship will not be awarded for that year.
La Bourse Application Form

Each year the Saskatchewan School Boards Association awards two $2,500.00 scholarships to graduating Saskatchewan high school students:
- Degree Program Scholarship: $2,500
- Technical/Trade Program Scholarship: $2,500
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need, and a 500-word essay. The application deadline is Aug. 31 each year.
The application deadline for students applying for the SSBA Scholarships is Aug. 31. Please send your application form to admin@saskschoolboards.ca
It is recommended that you also contact the Association to ensure that your application form was received. You can contact the Association at 1-306-569-0750.
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant
Registered apprentices who have successfully finished their first or second year/level (or equivalent) in one of the Red Seal trades can apply for the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG), which is a taxable cash grant of $1000.00 per year/level up to a maximum of $2000.00.
Apprenticeship Completion Grant
Registered apprentices who have completed their training and become a certified journeyperson in a designated Red Seal trade and who either the Red Seal endorsement or a provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification can apply for the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG), which is a taxable cash grant of $2000.00.
