FAQ

SGI Scholarships

We value higher education and recognize that post-secondary education is important and often essential for today’s youth. In a commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals, SGI has partnered with universities and organizations to offer nine different scholarships with varying eligibility requirements.

Celebrating SGI’s 75th Anniversary by offering more scholarships than ever

We’re celebrating our 75th Anniversary by awarding twice the number of Anniversary and Corporate scholarships this season. The SGI Anniversary Scholarship will double from 4 to 8, and the SGI Corporate Scholarship will double from 7 to 14 – that’s an extra $27,000 to help students pursue their post-secondary education! What better way to support students than to directly assist with the cost of their courses?

If you’re a student, check out the different scholarships below and consider applying for any that you’re eligible for. Next, help us spread the word – share with family or friends who are enrolled in post-secondary education and give them a chance to boost their educational goals too!

Loans Canada Scholarship

Our goal is to help Canadians make better financial decisions, and we believe that financial literacy is the key to this mission. We think that financial literacy is a lifelong commitment, and we want to encourage students to be mindful about their relationship with money early on in their lives.

For this reason, we are awarding $750 to a student every semester. All you have to do is show us how financial literacy has made a difference in your life. Tell us how you’ve budgeted, saved, invested, paid down debt, applied for as many scholarships as possible or how your side-hustle has helped you bring in extra cash. We want to know how your exceptional financial management efforts have made a positive impact in your life.

We understand that qualifying for a scholarship can be hard. That’s why we’re not asking for your grades or your GPA, and we’re leaving this open ended without any strict qualification rules. We want to hear your story! We want to know what you’ve learned and how you intend on using your financial knowledge to build a better future for yourself.

Amount: 3 x $750

Deadline: December 31, 2021
