TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who are in their final year of high school or CEGEP; have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year and have demonstrated community leadership.
Here’s more about the application process:
You can apply directly online using our digital application form, or print your application and mail it to us by the application deadline. As well, we require:
1. A 600-word essay (three copies) describing your community leadership experience.
Tell us:
- Why you got involved.
- How your involvement shows initiative and innovation.
- The ways your efforts have strengthened others.
- How long you have been involved.
- What you think the long-term impact will be.
- How your community has affected you.
- In addition, include a brief description of the range of your other community activities.
2. A letter of recommendation from your school.
3. Two letters of support from community groups.
4. Your academic transcript
You also have the option of including:
- A 250-word essay (three copies) describing your family and personal life, for example your family’s employment or economic situation.
- A 250-word essay about your life experiences if you have taken a year or more away from high school or CEGEP.

Eligibility criteria for students outside of Quebec
- Be in their final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
- Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Be at least 16 years of age by September 1, 2016.

- October 1 – Deadline to seek sponsorship from Vanier (see Ms. Lapointe)
- October 21 – Deadline for all sponsored applications to be submitted
- October 28 – Deadline for all direct pool applications to be submitted

CRITERIA

Value: 20 x $750 every year
Criteria:
- SEIU-West members who are in good standing (dues paying members) and/or their children are eligible to apply.
- The applicant must be taking a class in a College, University or recognized Tech or Vocational Post Secondary School for the year they are applying in.
- Applicants must submit a 250-500 word essay on the topic: How do unions contribute to a fair and just society?
- Applicants must include, with their application, a copy of their registration and receipt of costs.
- Applicants must fill out the attached form and include all items listed above.
- In order to ensure as many people benefit from this program as possible, if you have won a scholarship through SEIU-West within the past 3 years, your application will not be considered.

To demonstrate our admiration and appreciation for student employees who demonstrate excellence on the job, the Moose Jaw Co-op is sponsoring three $1000.00 scholarships for three student employees. The successful applicants will receive the payout of the scholarship once the proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution or course is produced.
Criteria:
- Must have worked at the Moose Jaw Co-op for at least 6 months of his/her Grade 12 year, must have a personal Moose Jaw Co-op membership and must pursue some type of post-secondary education. Application must be made within one year of graduating grade 12.
