In 1995, SARM auctioned off the first copy of their history book, The Building of a Province: Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities. This auction netted the sum of $2,600 which SARM contributed to the Centre for Agricultural Medicine. These funds initiated the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities 90th Anniversary $1,000 Student Scholarship in Agricultural Safety and Rural Health. The Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture’s Founding Chairs Program maintains the scholarship.
This $1,000 scholarship is presented each year at the SARM Annual Convention.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in grade 12 for the current school year;
- Be planning on studying at a Saskatchewan post secondary school in the fall following secondary graduation. Students can also be studying outside of Saskatchewan if the course is not offered in Saskatchewan;
- Have completed the last two years of high school in Saskatchewan;
- Have a farming background;
- Have parents or guardians who own/rent land and pay taxes to a rural municipality; and
- Live in a rural area.
Applicants must complete an application form and write a one-thousand word essay on the importance of safety and health on their farm or safety and health hazards on their farm.

All Grade 12 students are required to complete the General Scholarship Application form to be considered for any and all school scholarships that are administered through Vanier (Vanier Collegiate Scholarships Committee).

Grade 12 female students graduating grade 12 (or first year secondary students – one year out of high school) may be eligible to apply for the Florence E. Taylor Scholarships. The main criteria is financial need! Other information they will be looking at is your educational goal and academic record.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!!
Applications are now open for the Conexus Community Youth Leadership Award. Graduating high school students from across Saskatchewan who are Conexus Credit Union members (or parents/guardians of applicants are members) can apply to receive one of 30 – $500 awards.
New this year is our on-line application form. Students will be required to go to the Conexus website, http://www.conexus.ca to the Community – Youth Leadership Award page to review the eligibility guidelines, download the two required letters of support and complete the on- line application. No paper or emailed copies will be accepted. Deadline to submit applications will be midnight on April 15, 2018.
A selection committee made up of Conexus staff, will adjudicate the applications. Applicants are scored on their essay question and in three weighted categories – leadership role, community involvement, and school participation. A student must score a benchmark of at least 65 points in order to be eligible to receive the award. Award recipients and their school will be notified by May 4, 2018. Conexus staff will present our award at the graduation ceremony.

Information: Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) is once again giving out five, $5,000 scholarships in 2018. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must complete Grade 12 this year and go on to attend a Saskatchewan-based post-secondary program full-time this fall, in a program associated with the agriculture industry. The student or student’s parent(s) must also be registered Saskatchewan pulse growers (i.e. they have sold Saskatchewan-grown pulses in the last two years).
