What is the Conexus Youth Leadership Award?
The Conexus Youth Leadership Award recognizes graduating high school students who show leadership in everything they do and are guided by the cooperative principles. They’re fueled by enthusiasm to make their corner of the world a better place. They’re making a difference in their communities through volunteerism. This is an opportunity for our young Conexus Credit Union members, to be celebrated for making their mark on the world.
What is the award eligibility criteria?
All you have to do is tell us how you demonstrate the co-operative spirit, make your community a better place, and how you show leadership in everything you do.
Anybody who applies for this award will considered if:
- They’re graduating from high school in Saskatchewan in the 2020/2021 academic year.
- They or their parent/guardian are a Conexus Credit Union member and have been for at least one year, with all accounts in good standing.

- Include a copy of your most recent report card and/or your confirmation of enrollment letter.

The Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship will be awarded annually, at the discretion of the Scholarship judges and administrators. The amount awarded is determined in part by donor support.
The current scholarship is $1,000 CAD.
Please carefully review the application criteria to ensure your submission will be considered. Incomplete applications will be discarded without further consideration or notice.
The successful applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Saskatchewan resident completing Grade Twelve in Saskatchewan or one who has graduated from Grade Twelve in Saskatchewan within the past 24 months. You can apply for the Scholarship only once.
- Be accepted into, or plan to attend in the fall of the year of the award, a post-secondary institution and be enrolled in at least one class in the literary arts (e.g. English 101; a creative writing class, etc.) or demonstrate how you will seriously continue to advance your literary skills.Note: Scholarship funds will be issued upon proof of enrollment to a post-secondary institution as per the above. The post-secondary institution does not have to be in Saskatchewan.
- Provide a letter (written by the applicant) indicating reasons why he or she deserves to be awarded the Scholarship. Important factors include participation in writing-related activities (e.g., editor of the school newspaper; involvement in a local library writers’ club; reply letters from publications who have considered your work, regardless of whether or not that work was accepted). Note that the writer’s talent – not financial need – is the sole focus for the Scholarship. All entries are first copied, vetted and coded, to ensure that judging takes place without knowledge of the applicant’s name, address and contents of the covering letter. The letter must include:
- Current educational status (e.g., attending Grade Twelve) and educational institution where you are about to or have graduated.
- Your Full Name
- Your Address
- If you are under 18: Your parent or guardian’s contact information such as phone number and, if possible, email address.
- A statement which reads, “I agree to the terms and conditions of the Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship, including the right to release the winner’s name and sampling of his or her work to the media and general public. I further confirm that the poetry submitted is entirely the original work of the applicant.”If you are under 18, please have your parent or authorized caregiver sign this statement and print their name and date.
- Append a sampling of five to ten pages of the applicant’s poetry. (Note: This does not imply five to ten different poems; long poems that exceed one page are acceptable. HOWEVER, it is advisable to provide a variety of poems illustrating a variety of styles, rather than counting on just a few poems to win the day.) Please do not submit illustrations/images.
- Be sure to retain a copy of your work, as no submissions will be returned.

For students with a written diagnosis of a learning disability, that have graduated from a Saskatchewan High School and are planning on pursuing any field of study from a post-secondary institution.

The IBAS Young Community Leader Bursary — presented in partnership with Red River Mutual — recognizes one graduating Saskatchewan high school student who exemplifies outstanding dedication to making their community a better place.
In 2021, the successful applicant will receive a one-time cash bursary in the amount of $5,000.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
The recipient of the Young Community Leader Bursary will:
- Be a Grade 12 student in Saskatchewan, graduating in the spring or summer of 2021, with an intent to pursue a higher education within the next two years;
- Demonstrate an exceptional commitment to their community through volunteerism, school involvement, leadership of local initiatives, or other means of engagement;
- Be a role model in their community; and
- Demonstrate academic dedication and achievement with a minimum cumulative Grade 11 average of 75%.

To submit your name for consideration, you must fully complete the bursary application form no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021. The form will be made available beginning on Thursday, April 1.

“I’m Passionate About” Scholarship
Wheatland Accounting Services Ltd. is focused on agriculture and we believe this industry holds tremendous potential for Saskatchewan’s youth. We are excited about this opportunity to encourage our youth to develop knowledge that will ultimately enhance the efficiency, competitiveness and profitability of this industry in Saskatchewan.
Three scholarships of $500.00 are being offered to Saskatchewan high school graduates of 2021 who are passionate about moving into post secondary education (inside or outside of Saskatchewan) towards obtaining a diploma or degree that will equip you to operate your own farm or be employed in a position serving agriculture.
To qualify you must explain; what makes you passionate about agriculture, what drives you to choose this industry for your future and your vision of the future of agriculture in this province. You may do this in the form of a written one page essay or a brief one to two minute video.
In addition to your essay or video, you are required to complete the application below that will ask for your contact information, transcript of marks, and some proof of the post secondary education that you are enrolled in for the fall of 2021.
The winners of this award will be contacted and a cheque will be mailed following notification. The winning graduates will have their essay or video posted on our website, published in our Newsletter, and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
