Who Can Apply?
Students who fall into one of the 2 categories below are eligible to apply:
- Category 1 (Graduating High School or CEGEP): Currently enrolled in their graduating year of a Canadian High School or CEGEP, or have graduated from a Canadian High School or CEGEP within the last 2 years, and will be enrolled in their first year of a minimum 2 year undergraduate degree or diploma program on a full-time basis at a recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college in the fall 2017 academic term
- Category 2 (Undergraduate or Graduate Degree or Diploma): Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program on a full-time basis in a recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college and planning to continue full-time studies in fall 2017. Must have at least 2 years of full-time studies left in the program
- All applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents with a minimum 75% average in their last completed year of study
- Students with a disability who attend or are planning to attend post-secondary school on a part-time basis in fall 2017 are also eligible. Please see terms and conditions for full details

- Each nominee must complete the questionnaire and essay.

Students must enroll in a full-time undergraduate program and participate regularly in athletic or military activities. Personal qualities showing a potential for leadership are also a requirement.
All applicants will be considered but preference will be given to daughters or sons of ordained clergy, elementary or secondary school teachers, and Canadian military personnel.

The Academic Scholarship will support an individual pursuing a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities.
The Transition Award will be given to an individual who has overcome significant challenges due to a disability in order to achieve his/her goals.

Please find information about the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s Agriculture Student Scholarship below. Please share with teachers and grade 12 students in your school division who are pursuing agriculture-related post-secondary education in the fall of 2017.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture awards a grand-prize scholarship of $4,000 and three runner-up scholarships of $2,000 for students who thinkAG. Applicants need to produce a three-minute creative video or write a well-researched fact-based 1,000-word essay sharing their food story; and provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, agriculture industry or community leader. Note that immediate family of the Government of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation employees are not eligible to apply.

Rick Hansen will be hosting an exclusive Youth Leadership Summit in Ottawa on May 20-22, 2017 for 50 young leaders who care about access and inclusion for people with disabilities. Selected students will be treated to an amazing lineup of activities such as:
- Exclusive leadership training opportunities with distinguished Canadians;
- Hands-on workshops on access and inclusion that empower young leaders to take learning back into their schools and communities; and,
- Special events and private tours of iconic Canadian monuments.
Qualified youth aged 12-19 must apply online with a short essay or video before February 10, 2017. There is no cost to attend the Summit, travel and accommodation will be covered for each delegate and a parent or caregiver.

Student Art and Poetry Request
The Ministry of Education would like to revive its physical environment to reflect what matters most― Saskatchewan students. School divisions and First Nations education authorities are encouraged to send one piece of student artwork and/or poetry by Wednesday, March 15, 2017 to the ministry for display on the walls in our buildings. Please note that the student work will not be returned, but the students will be recognized by receiving a thank you card from the Deputy Minister and a picture of their displayed work.
Please select one-dimensional works that would fit into an 11 x 17 frame. Arrangements for pickup can be made by emailing curriculum@gov.sk.ca. We thank you in advance for shaping the Ministry of Education’s physical environment to honour the work of Saskatchewan students.
