TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Community Leadership

Unique in Canada, the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are designed to recognize the achievements of youth who are making a difference and help them realize their educational goals. After all, today’s community-minded students are tomorrow’s leaders. TD awards 20 scholarships across Canada, provided there are qualified applicants.

TD Scholarships Eligibility

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who:

  • Have demonstrated community leadership
  • Are in the final year of high school (outside Quebec) or CEGEP (in Quebec)
  • Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year

Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan Scholarships and Bursaries

The Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan, as well as many Lodges, sponsor a number of awards, scholarships, and bursaries. Information, including closing dates for applications, along with downloadable application forms are listed below.

Please note that there are Entrance Scholarships/Bursaries and Post-Secondary Scholarships/Bursaries available. Some scholarships/bursaries require a personal connection to Freemasonry or to the Eastern Star. Many scholarships/bursaries are open to Saskatchewan students without a Masonic connection.

You are encouraged to apply for all scholarships/bursaries for which you are qualified. If you apply for more than one scholarship/bursary you are not required to send additional copies of the same required documents. You will not be considered for any scholarship/bursary for which you have not completed the required application form.

GRAND LODGE AWARDS – Closing date for applications is August 7, 2018

EDGAR ALEXANDER GARTON SCHOLARSHIPS – 3 x $1,500 (  pdfApplication (62 KB) )
Offered annually to undergraduate students who have completed one or more years of University, Sask. Polytechnic, or other post-secondary education. Applicants must be children or grandchildren of a Master Mason in good standing, a resident of Saskatchewan and attending a post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan. Selection will be based on academic achievements, sportsmanship and leadership.

Must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year as required by the institution chosen.

ROBINSON MEMORIAL BURSARY- 2 x $500 (  pdfApplication (67 KB) )
Offered annually for one undergraduate from the University of Saskatchewan and one undergraduate from the University of Regina pursuing a course leading to an honours degree or a Master’s degree in English. Selection will be based upon academic achievement and leadership.

Offered annually to an undergraduate student at the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan who is a resident of Saskatchewan. Selection will be based upon academic achievement, sportsmanship and leadership.

Offered annually to Saskatchewan High School graduates who proceed to an institution of higher learning (Technical, Vocational or University) anywhere in Canada. Selection is based upon academic achievement, leadership skills, community and school activities and special awards.

Offered annually to Saskatchewan high school graduates with preference to graduates who currently are or were members of the International Order of Job’s Daughters or the Order of DeMolay and who will be entering the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan. Selection will be based upon academic achievement and a range of non-academic activities.

OTHER MASONIC AWARDS

ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR ROBERT MORRISON AWARD 2 x $1,000 (  pdfApplication (93 KB) )
Award #1 is offered annually to a Saskatchewan High School graduate entering their first year of postsecondary study. Award #2 is offered annually to a University or Technical School Undergraduate entering their 2nd or subsequent year of post-secondary study. Selection is based upon academic achievement and extra-curricular activities. Candidates may receive a Robert Morrison Award only once during their post-secondary career.
Candidates must be closely related to a current member of a Saskatchewan Eastern Star Chapter (dues paying or life). Valid relationships include spouse, child, grandchild, sibling, niece or nephew (all biological, adopted or step), or be a member themselves. Applicants must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year.

ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR EXCELSIOR CHAPTER NO. 21 AWARD 1 x $1,500 (  pdfApplication (93 KB) )
This award is offered annually to a Saskatchewan resident who is or will be attending a University or Technical Institute in Saskatchewan. Selection is based upon academic achievement and extra-curricular activities. Candidates must be closely related to a current member of a Saskatchewan Eastern Star Chapter (dues paying or life). Valid relationships include spouse, child, grandchild, sibling, niece or nephew (all biological, adopted or step), or be a member themselves. If there is no OES connection then a Masonic relationship is required. Preference will be given to graduates who are closely related to a current member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Applicants must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year.

Learning Disabilities Association of Saskatchewan Scholarship

Information:

  • Must explain: How a learning disability has affected his/her life.
  • How he/she has learned to work with and compensate for those disabilities.
  • What he/she hopes to do in the future.
  • Three letters of reference are required.

Essays will be judged primarily on:

Appropriateness: Does your essay answer the assigned question? Does your essay address the main topic stated in your thesis?

Clarity of exposition and argument: How clearly have you explained the arguments and concepts that are relevant to the topic? How clearly have you expressed your critical evaluation of the arguments? Have you clearly stated the reasons behind your evaluations?

Coherence of your explanations and arguments: Does your essay make sense as a whole? Is it well-organized? At each stage of the essay, is it easy to tell what you are saying and how that fits in with what you have already said? Are there any conflicts between things you say at different points in the essay? Do your arguments flow logically from your premises to your conclusions?

Essay Question #1: (Must be under 1500 words) 
What do you think is the greatest advancement in the information and communications technology industry over the last 10 years? Information and communications technology consists of IT as well as telephony, broadcast media, and all types of audio and video processing and transmission.

The Prairie Healthcare Scholarship

The Prairie Healthcare Scholarship offers anyone studying in a healthcare-related field, who is originally from Saskatchewan, the chance to apply for financial assistance. Priority will be given to residents of Southwest Saskatchewan.

Whether your aim is to study in the field of: Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Social Work or any other healthcare-related fields, the McIntyre Family Foundation is here to support your dreams.

Values:  $1000  to $20 000 per year of study

Why:  The McIntyre Family Foundation is hoping to make a difference in Saskatchewan’s healthcare system and to ease the demand for healthcare professionals, both in larger centres and rural communities.
